On Being Irritable

Lord, I feel so irritable today, I have no patience and everything is annoying me

Today I’m going to

Say a prayer, to regain patience in my heart

I know that you can calm my soul & let Your love be what I impart

There are days when we are just irritable. We can get easily annoyed, bothered by the slightest sound, agitated by anyone’s and everyone’s presence.


On days like this, I have learned to just pray repeatedly for patience. Sometimes I will apologize to those around me in advance for the mood that I am in (which seems to change my outlook almost immediately). Sometimes it is a day wrought with prayer to overcome this irritability. Either way, when we ask God for help, He is ever there for us.


Next time you are feeling annoyed as an overall mood, try perhaps explaining to those around you and ask them to be “patient” with you as you are impatient and pray to God to ask for a more loving attitude.

Lord, I feel like I’ve had the life sucked out of me.. I am so tired and weak

Today, I’m going to

Say a prayer, and know that you restore

My health, my spirit and my strength now and forevermore

Sometimes life is so difficult that we feel as if someone or something has just “sucked the life” out of us. Days like this can be discouraging, defeating and difficult to face.


God is the renewer of our strength. When, with even the tiniest bit of faith, we can lift our hearts and pray, asking and trusting God to restore our faith, we will find that He will bless us with a feeling of being capable and with new hope. God is the restorer of our soul. He never runs out of strength for us to lean on and use.


Take a baby step of faith and allow Him to bless you today.


Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint

I Feel Ill

Lord, I feel sick..

Today I’m going to….

Take a healing breath, inhaling God’s wonderful Grace

And know that He has promised healing, whatever is our case

So many times, at my very worst, I have just felt sick. In the midst of so many difficult life struggles, my body started to react with depression, then, a feeling of constant illness. Eventually, the illness got named, but it still was depressing to feel sick day after day.


God promises us two things that get me through how I feel when I feel ill. That He will never give us more than we can bare, and that when Jesus died for us, our illnesses were healed.


What has always stood out to me in this scripture about healing is that it is written in the present, not the past. Not “you were healed”, but rather “by his wounds, you are healed”. This is powerful. If you think about it, it makes this sentence eternally present, eternally effective for every moment that you are in, today and forever.


Grab on to this verse and believe that it is meant for you at this very moment. Know that God is longing to shower His love on you and heal your broken spirit, your hurting heart, your body, your mind.


Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

I fear one more angry word or look will shatter my soul into a million pieces.

Memories of a life gone astray.

Everything I had was focused on a relationship that never became what I had dreamt of

I held my head high and kept moving forward
Walking gingerly through the gauntlet as the axes connected with my raw emotions.

A sweet-smelling flower
That sways in the meadow
I know I’m Yours, always-loved one

The sweet rain that bathes me

Loving touch of the decadent sun

Birds spy me from Heaven
They smile as they pass

Butterflies alight on me
Bees quench their thirst from me
Crickets serenade my elation

From one little seed
Placed just so by Your hand
You grew me and molded Your treasure

Why Me?

Lord, Why Me?

Today I’m going to…

Know that You are God and plan my Life

That You are with me in the calm and with me throughout strife

The age-old question. We all ask it. Why me? (.ie; the cheating spouse, the lack of finances, the illness, the hardship, the depression or anxiety, the fear, the circumstances, the struggling that others just don’t seem to get the same amount of, no matter what the struggle is)


This is a hard question to beat ourselves with. Ours is not the answer except to know that He has planned every day of our lives. What others do, is of their own free will and sadly, it affects our lives, in many circumstances. Then we ask. Why? Why did You let that happen?


God gives all of us free will and sometimes that free will hurts others, but God does not interrupt free will. Sometimes it is devastating, sometimes it is circumstantial, such as the loss of a loved one due to illness, or illness of our own and still we ask “why me”?


God loves you. God does not want your suffering and He asks us to trust Him with our struggles and to know that it is for our good and His glory (in seeing us through it) and that we will pass through such things in HIS strength and in our trust in Him.


Deuteronomy 31:8 The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Lord, I feel so intimidated by my own lack of ability

Today I’m going to:

Remember God has created me in His image

I shall go in confidence knowing this and I shall not be timid

Why is it that we always see our faults instead of our strengths. Why is it that we see where others are so competent, so capable and so confident and yet, when we look in the mirror, we only see weakness and inability.


God has created all of us uniquely and it is a wonderful thing to see others’ strengths and their abilities. Do not measure your own ability against theirs for you have your own unique gifts, your own purpose day after day and your own beautiful attributes that make you who you are.


I used to measure myself against colleagues, friends that have been very successful, others who chose more wisely in marriage. In time, I have seen that we all struggle. That the brightest picture always has its flaws. They are not the same as my own, but God has shown me that every heart struggles in one way or another.


Be blessed knowing that you are a son or daughter of the Most High God, that He is your protector, your shield and your worth, to Him is so much that He allowed His beloved Son to suffer, die and atone for your sake.


Believe in the beauty within your spirit that God has created.


Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.


Not Worthy of Your Love

Lord, I feel so unworthy of Your wonderful love

Today I’m going to..

Remember that He loved me before I was made

In my best and in my worst, His love will always stay


I have done so much wrong in my life. You are God. Your son came to carry all sin, yet still, I see so much I’ve done wrong. I can’t imagine that I am worthy of Your love.


God tells us that He loves us and when we ask forgiveness, it is done. He does not see us as we see ourselves, He sees our spirit, the truth of who we are. Yes, that includes the parts that we’d rather hide, but it also shows the longing in our hearts to be good, to please God, to do well. Take comfort in this for He loves us beyond our understanding and so much more than we can ever feel we are worthy of. The fact is, we are not worthy, but He loves us at our best and our worst, as a parent loves their child, even when they misbehave. The love does not leave because of behavior. It stats because it has no end. It is eternal and it is constant.


Matt 7:11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?
