Your Love

This is all so new; Your precious love

You rein me in so tenderly

A full commitment is what you have for me

Nothing in this world could ever compare

I just want to tell you how I love you

I know You understand

I know You’ll never let me go

You’ll never let me down

You’ll never leave me stranded

You’ll never hurt my heart

You’ll never tell me goodbye

No matter what, You’ll never leave me

Carry Me Home

To pull yourself out of depression can be daunting. It really feels as if you do need to pull yourself out. Nothing seems to alter depression with the constant strength that it has to drag you further and further in without your permission.

“Hear my cry O Lord, attend unto my prayer

From the depths of the earth, do sing out to thee

And when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock

That is higher than I, that is higher than I.”

from one of the Psalms (sorry I do not remember which one)

You don’t have to fight back, you just have to hand it over God to carry you in His arms to a safe place where you needn’t feel afraid of slipping further and further down.

I am in that place now and God gave me the inspiration to write so that I can remember what I already know… that He is my shepherd and will not let me leave from the place without coming to find me and carry me to safety.

The Comfort Zone

The Comfort Zone

Lord.. Why do I have such a hard time stepping out of my shell and trying new things. Why do I get so anxious and afraid at even the thought of it?

Today I’m going to…

Ask You for the courage my spirit needs

You are God and Your love eternal is with me in all deeds

Yesterday’s Daily Prompt got me to thinking about how difficult it can be to step out of our safety zone. The stress, anxiety and fear of trying something new, moving on to a new relationship, job, trying a new routine, even can be so very stressful.

There are little changes in life (a new outfit that we are hesitant to wear) and there are big ones (new jobs, changing homes, giving up addictions, losing a loved one). All are stressful on one level or another.

We hear, over and over again, that the first step is the hardest. From experience and being someone that is a little (or a lot) OCD, I can tell you that this is very true. I can spend days, weeks, months and even years before I can face some changes in my life.

The “trick”, so to say, in this is to have Faith in God so that the fist step we take in any new venture is guided by Him and on the path that He has already created for us, before time began. I like to thank God BEFORE I start a new venture, knowing that when a new direction is in His will, it will always go according to His plan for me. The road does not always seem to be easy, but it ends up always adding value to my life and often to those around me.

Take a deep breath, say a prayer of thanks.. and take a baby step out in faith. You are loved, you are cared for, you are protected by the Creator of the universe.

Numbers 10:9 (NIV)

When you go into battle (face the unknown) in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, (which can sometimes be fear within ourselves) sound a blast on the trumpets (In other words, praise God!). Then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies.

Hurtful People

Hurtful People

Lord.. Why do others have to be so ruthless and unkind?

Today I’m going to…

Look to Your love to give me joy and peace

I’ll know that You are listening and Your love never will cease

Why is it, how is it that people can be so mean? I mean, really, really mean. Words that pierce our hearts. Words and actions that break our spirit. So many times it is from those that we should be closest to. We are left feeling as if an axe had severed us to the core.

Things are said that shouldn’t be said and we all are guilty of having said and done things that have hurt others. There is not one of us free from having hurt someone else.

Years ago, I was speaking with a friend and she was in tears about a friend that had abandoned her. She kept blaming God and asking why He would allow this to happen. Free will is the beauty of our faith, but it is also the freedom to choose to hurt others.

When Jesus walked His final footsteps on the Via Dolo Rosa, He was spit at by those He loved. He was mocked by those that He had taught. He had rocks thrown at Him by those He had dined with. He was killed by those He was praying for on the way to His death.

Pray for this love that would bless your enemies and not even see them as enemies, but those in need of God’s love.

John 19:30 (NIV)

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Untimely Passing

Untimely Passing

Lord.. Why do You take people we love before they’ve lived a full, long life?

Today I’m going to…

Ask You once again why my loved one is now gone

I’ll keep an open heart and look to You to carry on

There is nothing as difficult as losing a loved one before they have a chance to experience a full life and reach an older age. Even when a loved one has aged it is still difficult to get through the grieving. We find ourselves torn by the pain, enraged by the untimeliness, screaming inside with the “WHY??” of it. “Where was God?”, we ask.

We are always told that we will eventually have all of the answers or that “it was God’s will”. “How can it be God’s will?” we ask ourselves. “How could God let this happen?”

I recently saw a program that had interviewed several people that had experienced Near-Death Experiences. These are people who had for a brief few moments actually experienced death. Each of the people described an overwhelming feeling of love that they were consumed and engulfed in. This does not answer “why”, but it gave me tremendous comfort in having recently lost a close friend and knowing that both my grandmother and my father were taken before their own time. Knowing that they are in this wonderful place of God’s love; knowing that they are waiting for me; knowing that although my heart pains and longs for them, that they are waiting for me with love and joy, blesses my heart.

Turn to God in your pain. He is our comforter, our maker, our Father in the most loving and caring way. Pray that He will give you peace beyond understanding. You will find peace in praying with Him and love in speaking with Him.

Revelation 21:4 (NIV)

‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

When Life is in Ruins

Lord, I feel as if my life is just ruining around me

Today I’m going to…

Close my eyes, Lord You’re the calm within my storm

You give me peace I can’t understand and bring me to a norm

So often life seems to bring one sad and sorry trouble after the next. Sometimes those things are small, sometimes they are unbearable. Together, they can make us feel as if our life is literally just lying in ruins all around us.

When life faces us with those very difficult days,  there can be times when we don’t know if we can take anymore; times when we just don’t know if we can take another day of it.

There are so many promises that God makes to us in the bible that tells us just how very much He loves us. There is no burden that He does not care for and will not see us through. The perfect Father, ever beside you.

Isaiah 30:18

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

On Being Irritable

Lord, I feel so irritable today, I have no patience and everything is annoying me

Today I’m going to

Say a prayer, to regain patience in my heart

I know that you can calm my soul & let Your love be what I impart

There are days when we are just irritable. We can get easily annoyed, bothered by the slightest sound, agitated by anyone’s and everyone’s presence.

On days like this, I have learned to just pray repeatedly for patience. Sometimes I will apologize to those around me in advance for the mood that I am in (which seems to change my outlook almost immediately). Sometimes it is a day wrought with prayer to overcome this irritability. Either way, when we ask God for help, He is ever there for us.

Next time you are feeling annoyed as an overall mood, try perhaps explaining to those around you and ask them to be “patient” with you as you are impatient and pray to God to ask for a more loving attitude.

Colossians 1:11

being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience
