Looked Over

Looked Over

Lord, sometimes i feel that I am always looked over

Today, I’m going to:

To better understand your plan

That I will will not pity myself as You hold me in Your hand

How many times in life do you feel as you if you’ve bee looked over, that people see you just as another dandelion in a field of thousands?

Sometimes we feel hurt when someone else got picked for the job, as if someone else is always chosen because they have more charisma. We hurt when we are in a room of people and nobody notices.

It is sometimes difficult to see these things as anything other than they are; a looming hurt that just won’t go away as we continue to feel like the one not noticed.

Yet, where is our faith? How do we even begin to look at ourselves an our lives’ plan? Where is God in this and why does He not intervene?

Faith is a tricky thing at first and the more that we discipline ourselves to trusting Our loving Creator, the more that we can draw from the relationship that we are building with Him.

It is like this: when you meet a new friend, you automatically don’t trust this person with much, but as you get to know them more, you see the kindness in their heart, how much you enjoy their company and slowly allow them into your lives; hearts that become vulnerable, allowing the trust to grow.

So it is with God. When we newly begin a relationship with Him, trust is not our first instinct. In time we begin trusting Him, we don’t even know what faith is (except the definition in the dictionary).  That itself is the essence of faith, to jump from the unknown to set our hope on something unseen.

This trust and faith is pivotal in understanding the beauty of God’s love and who we are; who He created us to be. if the creator of all of Heaven and earth loves you with the unconditional and unending love that He has with you,

Matt 17:20          If you have faith so small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

Shattered Heart

Shattered Heart

Lord.. I cannot take the pain anymore. Why, when I’ve tried so hard, is my heart so broken?

Today I’m going to…

Give my heart to Your tender, loving hands,

Only You can put the pieces back, as only You can understand

A broken heart. Sattered, bereft, lying in pieces at the loss of love.

Why must we endure such pain? Why do we have to go through this? It feels like it will never end, as we are so deeply hurt that the feeling is physically painful to us, choking our spirits and bodies.

When we look to God to heal our pain, we must trust that He will. We must believe that He is the loving, tender Father that cares about all of our burdens, all of our woes, all of our grief. He promises us that He will restore us in all that has been robbed of us in life. He promises to heal our hearts and spirits.

Our job is to just believe and keep believing. Know that going through the pain of losing love, whether from a break-up or a death, God; tender and merciful, is holding us in the palm of His hands.

Luke 4:18

The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has sent me to heal the broken-hearted.

Untimely Passing

Untimely Passing

Lord.. Why do You take people we love before they’ve lived a full, long life?

Today I’m going to…

Ask You once again why my loved one is now gone

I’ll keep an open heart and look to You to carry on

There is nothing as difficult as losing a loved one before they have a chance to experience a full life and reach an older age. Even when a loved one has aged it is still difficult to get through the grieving. We find ourselves torn by the pain, enraged by the untimeliness, screaming inside with the “WHY??” of it. “Where was God?”, we ask.

We are always told that we will eventually have all of the answers or that “it was God’s will”. “How can it be God’s will?” we ask ourselves. “How could God let this happen?”

I recently saw a program that had interviewed several people that had experienced Near-Death Experiences. These are people who had for a brief few moments actually experienced death. Each of the people described an overwhelming feeling of love that they were consumed and engulfed in. This does not answer “why”, but it gave me tremendous comfort in having recently lost a close friend and knowing that both my grandmother and my father were taken before their own time. Knowing that they are in this wonderful place of God’s love; knowing that they are waiting for me; knowing that although my heart pains and longs for them, that they are waiting for me with love and joy, blesses my heart.

Turn to God in your pain. He is our comforter, our maker, our Father in the most loving and caring way. Pray that He will give you peace beyond understanding. You will find peace in praying with Him and love in speaking with Him.

Revelation 21:4 (NIV)

‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

When Life is in Ruins

Lord, I feel as if my life is just ruining around me

Today I’m going to…

Close my eyes, Lord You’re the calm within my storm

You give me peace I can’t understand and bring me to a norm

So often life seems to bring one sad and sorry trouble after the next. Sometimes those things are small, sometimes they are unbearable. Together, they can make us feel as if our life is literally just lying in ruins all around us.

When life faces us with those very difficult days,  there can be times when we don’t know if we can take anymore; times when we just don’t know if we can take another day of it.

There are so many promises that God makes to us in the bible that tells us just how very much He loves us. There is no burden that He does not care for and will not see us through. The perfect Father, ever beside you.

Isaiah 30:18

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

On Being Irritable

Lord, I feel so irritable today, I have no patience and everything is annoying me

Today I’m going to

Say a prayer, to regain patience in my heart

I know that you can calm my soul & let Your love be what I impart

There are days when we are just irritable. We can get easily annoyed, bothered by the slightest sound, agitated by anyone’s and everyone’s presence.

On days like this, I have learned to just pray repeatedly for patience. Sometimes I will apologize to those around me in advance for the mood that I am in (which seems to change my outlook almost immediately). Sometimes it is a day wrought with prayer to overcome this irritability. Either way, when we ask God for help, He is ever there for us.

Next time you are feeling annoyed as an overall mood, try perhaps explaining to those around you and ask them to be “patient” with you as you are impatient and pray to God to ask for a more loving attitude.

Colossians 1:11

being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience

Feeling Lifeless

Lord, I feel like I’ve had the life sucked out of me.. I am so tired and weak

Today, I’m going to

Say a prayer, and know that you restore

My health, my spirit and my strength now and forevermore

Sometimes life is so difficult that we feel as if someone or something has just “sucked the life” out of us. Days like this can be discouraging, defeating and difficult to face.

God is the renewer of our strength. When, with even the tiniest bit of faith, we can lift our hearts and pray, asking and trusting God to restore our faith, we will find that He will bless us with a feeling of being capable and with new hope. God is the restorer of our soul. He never runs out of strength for us to lean on and use.

Take a baby step of faith and allow Him to bless you today.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint

I Feel Ill

Lord, I feel sick..

Today I’m going to….

Take a healing breath, inhaling God’s wonderful Grace

And know that He has promised healing, whatever is our case

So many times, at my very worst, I have just felt sick. In the midst of so many difficult life struggles, my body started to react with depression, then, a feeling of constant illness. Eventually, the illness got named, but it still was depressing to feel sick day after day.

God promises us two things that get me through how I feel when I feel ill. That He will never give us more than we can bare, and that when Jesus died for us, our illnesses were healed.

What has always stood out to me in this scripture about healing is that it is written in the present, not the past. Not “you were healed”, but rather “by his wounds, you are healed”. This is powerful. If you think about it, it makes this sentence eternally present, eternally effective for every moment that you are in, today and forever.

Grab on to this verse and believe that it is meant for you at this very moment. Know that God is longing to shower His love on you and heal your broken spirit, your hurting heart, your body, your mind.

Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
